Brides most often take their ideas or the wedding cake from the magazines (especially Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine or Bon Apetit Magazine), books and most often recently -- from the Internet. It's good to learn a bit about the basics of the art of creating wedding cakes to be able to choose the best cake for your wedding. Borrow a book from the library or do some research on the Internet and at least find out which type of cake can be served in Las Vegas. For example, because it is so hot in Vegas (over 100 degrees in summer!), whip cream is usually not used at all and non-dairy whip cream is used only in wintertime.
* Lettering – Get creative in the lettering. Use some fancy letters or cartoons instead of normal letters. For instance wine glass instead of the letter ‘U’ and so on.
In an informative Wedding Cake Toppers article entitled, “Bride and Groom Wedding Cake Toppers,” Robert Reed wrote in the June 2006 issue of The Antique Shoppe Newspaper, “In 1924 one U.S. wholesale catalog was offering an assortment of wax bride and groom wedding cake toppers. Selections included a hatless groom or a groom wearing a "high hat" or top hat. The bride meanwhile could come with or without a cloth veil. All of the bride and groom wax figures were about two inches tall. The catalog listing offered them as a couple, or in groups of 100 for wedding favors.”

Two tiered cake with chocolate frosting adorned with chocolate covered strawberries and greenery, a tuxedo, a shirt and tie, John Deere logo or tractor, deer, a sports ball, the logo of his favorite sports theme, his company logo, a musical instrument, his favorite pet, a cake in the shape of his name, a cake in the shape of the state where he is from. As time passed in the Twentieth Century the range and variety of wedding cake toppings expanded beyond solely using the bride and groom figurine wedding toppers to include a wide range of wedding cake topping or wedding cake ornaments. Some wedding couples choose instead of the wedding cake toppers using a bride and groom dressed in a wedding gown and tux respectively, to choose to alternatively or additionally select such wedding cake toppings as: bows, cupids, cherubs, hearts, love birds, silver bells, or even a small framed picture of the wedding couple (maybe an engagement photo of the wedding couple).
Aside from boxes holding specialized cakes, there are also those that have designs on them. The first type are colored cake boxes. These boxes come in the popular colors such as white, pink, black, blue and brown. They all add a different element to the packaging of the cake. Personalized cake boxes are another type of box that differs from the mainstream ones. They often contain some type of artwork or graphics on them that make them personalized specifically to the individual's specifications. Many stores often get these types of cake boxes to help their products stand out.
